Naiyah's b'day party pics

'LIVE' food party

Thinking about stress and reading about this report out of Stanford done on rats and it says that rats when under stress gained weight whether their caloric intake went up or not.....lesson - avoid stress at all costs........hard to do as life is a stress.
We have made it so.
Go into a supermarket and you don`t know what to buy, everything prettier and better packaged than the rest.......truth is that the things that are best for you are in the worst packaging.....read labels and it will help you to make your decisions ,don`t go by how red the meat is and how pretty the fruit is. When you take it home that's when the test of the fruit is. It tastes like cardboard!
I had an interesting experience last Friday night ....went with my son who is a jerk pork God and won`t tek talk when he comes home to visit.......so off to 'Scotchies' he had to go where there was no place to park ....I had no idea that's what happened there on a Friday night .I hope it was because it was end of month, and it's a once a month thing and not an every Friday thing.........
I am not a preacher folks but try to make the eating of smoked jerk meat a once in a while thing and not an every day or every week thing....do I beg you.....
The greatest part of my son`s vist though was the belated birthday party I had for my grand daughter on Sunday and where I served only "live" food.
WOW WHAT A STRESS! I felt no way as I had informed everyone what kind of food was going be served but I don`t think they believed me but if my granddaughter is anything to go by that generation is in trouble....first of all she eats nothing green so zucchini is hidden in banana bread and she loves it that way....she does the "fruits till 12 noon" routine and she likes the raw food cookies which are flax-seed almonds and raisins so I wish I had her for a month. Life would change for Miss Naiyah as Daddy and his lollipops would get left behind as going into a pharmacy she sees lollipops and asks for them but she is not getting them so I tell her not to stress herself go with whomever is with me and do something else and she does. They will listen people but you have to do it before the sweet tooth sets in and can`t be broken. Another thing, all these children who we claim have asthma etc. take them off bagels and pasta and bread and watch what happens.....WE FEED OUR CHILDREN TOO MUCH MUCUS-MAKING FOODS!
Anyway back to the party the menu went like this
- zucchini salad
- greens with mango sauce
- ackee with seaweed
- stuffed eggplant
- curried plantains
- salsa with yam and sweet potato chips
- wata and cranwata
- otaheite apple juice and mixed fruit ice-cream
Well by the time we reached the ice cream I had to serve Haagen Dazs Pralines & Cream as a treat as the men especially were ready to commit suicide.......one unhappy child (a 9 year old) said "is there nothing unhealthy here to eat?"
I didn`t find that funny, he knows it's unhealthy but still wants it and all he had was the too sweet ice cream ...sad comment on us and what we`ve done to our children....
All of them bar none heading to some sort of "itis", in fact one of the adult guests can`t walk her knees gone due to overweight and another has bad, bad diabetes.
On the way back home, the person who was in a coma recently from diabetes had a box of greasy chicken which I understand she devoured in 2 mins, the daughter of the person who can barely walk was in that chicken line and she claims she is trying to lose weight.....yet another went to eat at 'Faiths Pen' despite cautions issued in an article in our Daily Gleaner about the unsanitary water used there. It would have been better if they ate nothing and drank water, but our regular food habits have us behaving like crazed addicts!
The sweetest joke of the evening came from a friend's husband who said he promised his wife to come and suffer for 4 hours and that's what he`s doing, suffering so when we introduced the chef he said "yes bring the chef someone needs to shoot him".
My husband was in 7th heaven and wanted to know why he couldn`t have that array of food every day....difficult hon, difficult. Just look around you!

DRUG RIP OFF?

Watching people die of cancer is not a pretty thing and watching them die while being ripped off is even more painful.
According to a recent article in the NY Times " Chuck Stauffer’s insurance covered the surgery to remove his brain tumor. It covered his brain scans. And it would have paid fully for tens of thousands of dollars of intravenous chemotherapy at a doctor’s office or hospital. But his insurance covered hardly any of the cost of the cancer pills the doctor prescribed for him to take at home. Mr. Stauffer, a 62-year-old Oregon farmer, had to pay $5,500 for the first 42-day supply of the drug, Temodar, and $1,700 a month after that". Here is the full story with other examples of health insurance rip-offs.
I also recently had a similar experience with a friend who not only paid a princely sum for her chemo pills - Tarciva was the one given to her, the insurance company refused to pay for them and on top of that they DIDN`T WORK! Now we could ask since the intravenous one didn`t work why give her the tablet form ? Are the pharmaceuticals and doctors working together against us again?
My experience with chemo pills was that they turned me black, blacker than I am and I couldn`t touch or hold anything cold and the soles of my feet seemed as if I had been burnt, and the icing on the cake was that I got a thing called pseudomembrane disease which could have killed me if I wasn`t rushed to the hospital where it was diagnosed by having a sigmoidoscope, and then I was rushed to a pharmacy to wait outside in the car where I was given 2 injections costing nuff nuff dollars....
Everything to do with this disease costs a pretty penny, yet we all prefer to pay for the MRI and the CATSCAN and the surgeries instead of eating the right way.... amazing isn`t it?
The moral of the story is "everywhere u tun macka juk u' so why not try and do what JACK WELSH says CHANGE BEFORE YOU HAVE TO!

A LESSON FOR A HAPPY LIFE

This is a story that has made the rounds on the internet for years - I don`t know who to give credit for it but every time it comes to me it warms my heart:
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
'I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
'Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'That doesn' t have anything to do with it,' he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.'
'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life.'
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!"
And you do realize that your bank account of memories comes from your perception! Good or bad our perception is everything. It is what makes us who we are and makes us react or not. It's how we see the world.... Everything centers around our perception of what is going on around us, and what we perceive is being done to us.
I like to go around the room at my staff meetings and ask each person to give their take on a particular incident and always at least 3 people will give a different version of the same incident and nothing you can say or do can change their perception of what happened......so then just imagine outside in the bigger world.
We take up others people's ills and make it our own, we take up what people said that has nothing to do with us and make it our own,we have perceived bad vibes from people who are not even thinking of us...... We make or break our lives.
If we change our way of seeing things instead of TRYING to change others we would have a fabulous life just like the old gentleman in the story decided to have for the remainder of his days.
Every morning when you awake make the decision that NO ONE IS GOING TO RAIN ON YOUR PARADE!

A positive approach from the USA

"Obama cool meets Chavez mania at Americas summit" was the headline in an article from Positive Tourism . According to the report:
If US President Barack Obama needed a reminder that times have changed in the Americas, his fellow presidents gave him one when Air Force One touched down in Trinidad and Tobago for a regional summit.
Four years ago when his predecessor George W. Bush flew into Argentina for the last Summit of the Americas he was greeted by rock-tossing protesters and an alternative summit led by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, raging against "the evil empire."
This time, the US president was met by smiles, the cheery clang of Caribbean steel drums and prime ministers and presidents seeking out his autograph. Chavez even told the young US leader, twice: "I want to be your friend."
"This is the Obama summit," one Brazilian diplomat said.
An observation blimp circled over the conference center in Port of Spain, where a cruise ship housed journalists and white-jacketed police guarded perimeters as Obama and other leaders brainstormed on the economy, energy and security.
Obama had to parry demands to lift the US embargo on Cuba and got a history lesson about US imperialism from Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. But the positive vibes surrounding the young US leader were hard to ignore.
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe was one of several leaders who obtained a prized Obama signature. He showed off a scribbled message from Obama: "To President Uribe, with admiration."
"Barack Obama signed this little letter for me ... I'm going to send this to get framed," he joked with reporters outside the summit conference hall.
At one official photo, Obama chatted easily with leftists like Chavez, who have made America-bashing the heart of their political personalities.
Even an "alternative" summit was friendly.
In Argentina, Chavez rallied thousands of protesters to rage against Bush and free trade. But in Trinidad, a small group of demonstrators taking part in a "drummit summit" played drums, displayed Cuban flags, and hoisted posters carrying images of both Chavez and Obama.
Chavez was greeted as always by mobs of reporters. A scuffle involving journalists crushing to reach the Venezuelan leader prompted summit hosts to briefly restrict media coverage of some events on Saturday.
But Obama's "listen and learn" approach won over more than a few of the hemisphere's most powerful figures. Chavez presented him with a book by a Uruguayan leftist. It shot to No. 2 on Amazon.com's best-seller list on Sunday.
"He's a cool man," St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said before the closing ceremony. "He's an intellectual ... he wants to have a fresh start."
Funnily enough when I watched MSNBC on the morning of the 20th, I thought Obama was the biggest idiot and had the world laughing at him because he sat down grinning while Ortega ranted and railed at him. He was taken to task for shaking Chavez`s hand....You would have thought Chavez was going to take over America because the USA had this lame president....What a shock when I read this article , and I give this more creedence as it comes from the region directly involved......so Joe Scarborough, listen to Minka......she does have sense she is not biased...the man is going to make a kinder gentler nation, and in turn the world will be a better place for it.....Can you imagine all nations working together for the common good? I can`t even breathe just thinking about it.

LIFE IS A GIFT!

This was sent to me from a friend in England going through a rough time and I thought it could help us all......"Life is a gift today , before you think of saying an unkind word - think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife - think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion. Today before you complain about life - think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you complain about your children - think of someone who desires children but they're barren. Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - think of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive - think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one maker. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around. Life is a gift, Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, And fulfill it!"

Comes back to what I`m always preaching about....QUALITY OF LIFE!
Mark Wignall, a Jamaican journalist wrote an article about a Dr Tullio Simoncini in today's Observer and I think we all should read it in case this man is on to something about cancer being a fungus and that it can be treated with the application of Sodium Bicarbonate-we should listen to him with as much interest as we give the oncologists that are telling you to let them burn out your cancer cells when they know it's not going to help.u never can tell!
One thing I wish doctors would start practicing is if they believe that their patients have no hope, do not tell them they can eat jerk pork and they`ll be fine, instead send them home to drink green juice and eat all the fruit and vegetables in the world, drink lots of purified water and take a supplement like Glyconutrients, as at least they will feel better for whatever time they have left, and u never can tell they just might be around to tell the tale....Instead of chemo why not suggest Dr. Simoncini`s treatment before you burn out our insides, especially our brains (chemo fog) and then nothing will work!
GIVE US A CHANCE....You know for most of us if the doctor doesn`t recommend it we are not doing it.

FOODMATTERS.TV

Foodmatters.tv is a very important website......THERE YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF CANCER - WHY THE ONCOLOGISTS WANT YOU ON CHEMO AND RADIATION.......SO MUCH TO LEARN.
Whether you have just learnt you have cancer or you are a 3 time survivor like me, whether you are stage 1 or stage IV . YOU can fight and win.....know which cancers work with what treatments...the 2 young people who created it must be saluted for this informative website.
I like to read when people don`t rely totally on doctors but do their own research and achieve the successes that we can all achieve if we do our homework. Check out this story of an 8 year old that was cured by a change of diet .
Too many times I hear that someone takes something for lung cancer and then someone with breast cancer turns around and takes it .....the same way chemo and radiation works for breast cancer doesn`t necessarily work for lung cancer, we MUST do our research. Not because one thing works for me means it's going to work for you with a totally different diagnosis. My body might be deficient in different nutrients than what yours is deficient in, and even when we are using food to treat the root cause of our illness we have to bear in mind our bloodtype. For example B bloodtypes do not do well on coconut or tomato.
I have always wondered why 2 people can eat the same thing at the same time and it affects one and not the other...this is why....... our systems kinda built different.
So not because we hear that 'guinea hen weed' and 'Graviola' are getting great results with cancer must we rush and stock up without first checking what kinds of cancer it's having success with.
And then those of us that drink teas as part of our treatments it's not one cup of tea when you are in the mood .It's at least 3-4 cups a day and if we are drinking green juice it's at least 4 glasses.
Maintenance is different from treating your illness.
In 2006 I drank 6 scoops of Advanced Ambrotose powder in water or juice 4 times a day now I drink between 6 or 9 scoops one time per day.......
If we are using alternate medicine or as they say letting our food be our medicine, be serious about it - AMOUNTS MATTER!

IS YOUR FAVOURITE "NATURAL" BRAND REALLY NATURAL?

According to Dr.Mercola "Many of the products you may trust and respect for their independence and social responsibility are now owned by big corporations that are going out of their way to hide their link to the small, socially responsible brands. "
So your favorite 'Natural' Brands MAY NOT BE WHAT THEY SEEM e.g.organic, natural Burt’s Bees lip balm was originally sold at independently owned health food stores but more recently, Burt's Bees products have appeared everywhere -- in grocery stores, drug stores, and large stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Dr.Mercola goes on to explain as follows:
"Burt's Bees is now owned by Clorox, a massive corporation that has historically cared very little about the environment.Tom's of Maine is owned by Colgate-Palmolive, a massive company with revenue of approximately US$11.4 billion. Danone, the French conglomerate which also owns Brown Cow, has acquired a majority holding in Stoneyfield -- the same Danone that had to recall large quantities of its yogurt in 2007 after it was found to contain unsafe levels of dioxins. Horizon Organic milk was bought out in 2005 by the largest dairy company in the U.S., Dean Foods.
Odwalla
is now owned by Coca-Cola. Almost as soon as Coca-Cola bought the company, it stopped selling the fresh-squeezed OJ that had made Odwalla famous and popular -- fresh squeezed can't last the days and weeks so the juices are now in transit or not on the shelf. Pepsi bought Naked Juice in 2006, in order to compete with Odwalla. Smuckers grabbed several juice mainstays from the health food store shelves. Kashi cereals was bought in July 2000 by Kellogg's , the 12th-largest company in North American in food sales (but if you look at a box of Kashi's "Go Lean Crunch", for example, you will find not one mention of the fact that Kellogg's owns them.) Kraft Foods bought the natural cereal maker Back to Nature. Kraft is a subsidiary of Altria, which also owns Philip Morris, one of the world's largest producers of cigarettes.
General Mills owns Cascadian Farm. Barbara's Bakery is owned by Weetabix, the leading British cereal company. Health Valley and Arrowhead Mills are owned by Hain Celestial Group, a natural food company traded on the NASDAQ, with H.J. Heinz owning 16 percent of the company.
Green and Black's organic chocolate was taken over in 2005 by Schweppes, the 10th-largest company in North American packaged-food sales."
You really believed in them right ....enjoy your Godiva my dears, might be better for you. Marketing strategies have been fooling you, convincing you to trust that the niche brands continue to be small, environmentally conscious businesses with ecologically sound practices. In fact, as they are all taken over, this changes and they are caught up in the giant corporate wheel so it`s time to question if the time has come for you to cross these "pseudo" responsible brands off your shopping list. And it is time to find products more in tune with your values -- at least till they get gobbled up by the big conglomerates. Dr.Mercola explains as follows:
"For those of you still under the assumption that your Horizon organic milk, your Kashi crackers or your Green and Black’s chocolate was being churned out by a small farm or mom-and-pop shop nestled in a pristine valley, brace yourself for disappointment. The reality is that many of your favorite organic products are owned and operated by the same corporations that make the worst kinds of highly processed junk foods on the market -- soda, potato chips, sugary cereals, candy, etc."
Always remember these big conglomerates operate only for the bottom line so don`t fool yourself into believing that its using the same quality that mom and pop would be using.....They need bang for the buck!
Here in Jamaica we need to read labels carefully and go for the brands that say no added sugar! Most box juices are pure sugar and water people ...KEEP YOUR CHILDREN AWAY FROM THAT.
On the other side, remember that when you speak with your pocketbook and start demanding healthier food choices, Dr. Mercola reports that "the largest corporations have no practical economic choice but to respond. With the involvement of large corporations, organic food has turned into a $16-billion business, with sales growing by as much as 20 percent per year so this means that there is more access to organic foods at lower prices – which is a great thing."
BUT ARE THEY REALLY ORGANIC? That's all I`m asking.....
Also with organic foods being so expensive we have to make sure we don`t pay premium for fruits and vegetables where no pesticides or herbicides are used or where they can be peeled e.g. why would you need an organic avocado or orange? Companies, eager to gain market share don`t inform you of this.
Although many people are now getting the core message that organic is far healthier for you, they also don’t stop long enough to make a distinction between raw organic food and processed food that contain organic ingredients. Dr.Mercola warns that "It’s important to realize that organic versions of junk food are STILL just as detrimental to your health as their original counterparts."
In fact unprocessed, natural foods are more often than not better for you as they contain little or no MAN-MADE substances!

THE FOOD YOU ARE EATING CAN KILL YOU

Think the Food You Eat Can't Kill You? Think Again . .
Sadly, American kids today are likely to have shorter life spans than their parents
With modern medicine, life expectancy is going up, right?
WRONG!
For the first time in 200 years, American children can now expect to live shorter lives than their parents. But why?
And it's now not only America...the American way of eating is here in Jamaica and other developing countries ......We have given up our calaloo and yam for burgers and fried chicken, especially our kids. Did you hear the news recently that they want to tax soda to help obesity ?
And what about the host of chronic illnesses now attacking all of us young and old at astronomical rates ?
The US figures look like this:
Childhood asthma has increased over 200%.
Childhood obesity is up an astounding 400%.
Disorders such as ADHD and autism have gone through the roof.
30% of children have two or more cardiac risk factors.
What's worse, children with chronic illnesses are three times more likely to require hospitalization, and many die as a result. Are you believing these stats?
Google them if you believe I`m lying.
And the young are not the only ones at risk....
What are we doing to ourselves ?
Adults and those of advanced age have also fallen prey to the onslaught of deadly disorders.
Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers have reached frightening proportions. Autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and certain forms of cancer have exploded in recent years. BIG WORDS...Is that why we don`t pay attention to whats happening ?
A comedian on 'The View' said "I was going to the supermarket to get cancer, tuberculosis"......everyone did a little nervous laugh. Why ? They all knew just how true that joke was.....
Your entire family’s safety is at risk every time you shop for food. From salmonella in chickens, to deadly contaminants in food grown in China, to pesticides and other chemicals used on fruits and vegetables grown south of the border, foods sold in grocery stores across America are harboring dangerous chemicals and bacteria.
However, few people are aware of the dangers and expect government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration to protect them.
Fortunately, you can take steps to reduce your risk of food poisoning:
- Consider growing your own vegetables and fruits. They can be grown in your yard, Jamaicans we are blessed.....our townhouses all have a little plot of land back or front some have back and front, and our apartments have balconies where fabulous tomatoes and peppers can be grown. Likewise, natural insect control is vital, using insects such as ladybugs. You also can use other biological control systems. At my plot of land we use herbs to surround the broccoli and peppers etc. Insects stay away.

- Buy locally grown foods. Talk to farmers and ask about pesticide and herbicide use. Today I spoke to some guys from St.Elizabeth the main farming region of Jamaica who told me they sacrifice size for us being healthy. Organic farms are popping up all over the place, and have been growing at a rate of 15% a year abroad with no end in sight. We are not far behind.

- Wash all vegetables and fruits. To wash your vegetables properly, fill a 2-gallon pot with purified water (filtered) and add two caps of vegetable wash, or like me , you can use hydrogen peroxide.

- When buying organic produce, make sure that they look healthy. Plants with spots and bruises are not safe to eat. Sick plants infected with molds, viruses, and bacteria secrete powerful toxic substances to protect themselves, and they are very toxic to people. Bet you didn`t know that? That's why peanuts are not good for cancer patients as it has mold.....

- Avoid injected meats and poultry. You may have noticed that most whole birds and many hams have a carefully worded label that says they were injected with either gluten, natural flavors, or hydrolyzed protein extracts. In essence, this is a glutamate mixture much like MSG. And like MSG, it is toxic to your body, especially the brain.

- Wash your poultry well. It also is important to wash whole birds before you cook them. Many are covered in chemicals and bacteria contamination. Just hold the bird under the water and scrub the skin with a vegetable brush. All foods should be washed thoroughly before cooking.

- Cook all meats completely, even steaks. Most animals, especially cattle and chickens, are infected with carcinogenic viruses and there is compelling evidence that humans can develop cancer from these viruses. Several studies have shown that slaughterhouse workers and those who butcher meat have significantly higher rates of lymphomas and leukemias than the general population. These are the same cancers found in cattle and chickens. I am a good example of that, see where eating steak got me? I only ate rare steaks...and there was no moderation, most nights it was steak with onions and maybe a baked potato.

Many of the items you buy in grocery stores have additives that can trigger some of the most serious health problems known, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and Parkinson’s disease
HAVE I SCARED YOU ENOUGH?

'Ageless Living'

Oprah`s show on 'Ageless Living' was all about 'blue zones' where people live to 105 easily and behave as if they are in their forties. The people in these zones exercise steadily no big jumping up and down, they tend their animals, tend to their farms, practice tai chi, lift light weights and their fruit and vegetables come from their yard and not 3000 miles away. In the blue zone in Sardinia , Italy the people didn`t drink cows milk they drank goats milk, high in calcium therefore good for your heart plus Dr.Oz says researchers believe it could help protect against Alzheimer`s and heart disease.
So it's not the food, it's the the process, but you knew that right?
Dr Oz says "You don't have to travel to the Mediterranean to incorporate these age-defying delicacies into your diet. Planning a Sardinian menu? Start with eating a lean, plant-based diet and only have meat as a side dish."
One major staple in the Sardiniain diet is dairy. The pecorino cheese in Sardinia is known for its rich omega-3 fatty acids. Dr.Oz further advises "Pecorino cheese is available in grocery stores, and if it's made from grass-fed cow's milk, you'll get an extra dose of omega-3." So it's not all cheese that is bad for us.....Sardinia here I come!
Pair a hunk of cheese with a slice of whole grain bread, and you've got a Sardinian snack with some longevity. Another snack option? Sardines. "They've got omega-3s in them, key minerals and iron," Dr. Oz says.
Well I`ve always heard that sardines are a superfood if we can get them out of the tin, so makes sense to me.
One thing all these places have in common is a sense of community....Friends and family work everytime. It's the thing I miss more than anything else living here in Ocho Rios.......No one to play kalooki with!
There is a blue zone in AMERICA shock of shocks !! They found an 103 year old lady lifting her weights and volunteering as happy as a lark - you want to see her work out on her stationary bike !! She lives in an area called Loma Linda, California and many other fabulously healthy old people live there and when they showed us their market it was plain to see why they are so fit and healthy.
There we met heart surgeon Ellsworth Wareham a 94-year-old Adventist who can still be found in the operating room and this is what he had to say "I think it's important for an individual to have some security and peace in his life. And I get that from believing in a loving, caring God, you see. And so if he's in charge of my life, why sit around and worry ? I mean, he takes care of the universe, he can certainly take care of me, so I don't worry ".
A message for all of us.
If you can change it you don`t need to worry and if you can`t change it - you worse don`t need to worry!
As Dr. Wareham says GIVE IT TO GOD!

Cancer stats.

You might not remember this, but back in 1971, President Richard M. Nixon officially 'declared war on cancer' when he signed into law the National Cancer Act.
His mission was to — once and for all — find a cure for this deadly disease.
Well, here we are, nearly forty years later. And unfortunately, the scientific community is really no closer to a cure than they were when President Nixon put his pen to paper and signed that bill into law.
And notice that any way legislators can block alternative medicine they do. My holistic practitioner told me in 2006 when my last bout with cancer was raging and I was trying to decide what to do "cancer isn`t a myth anymore" I believe they know just what to do but its not profitable for them to do it.
Here's the facts of where we are today . . .
According to the United States National Cancer Institute, in the U.S. alone:

* More than 1.2 million Americans develop cancer every year
* A new cancer is diagnosed every 30 seconds
* One in two men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
* One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
* Roughly 8,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer this year
* Cancer is the #1 cause of death in children between the ages of 1 and 14
* Over 565,000 Americans die from cancer every year
* Cancer could easily become the leading cause of death by the year 2010

I was absolutely astounded when I read those statistics.I thought they said that they were finally controlling cancer and things like breast cancer was well under way to being controlled ?
What's happened in the last 37 years that over half a million people still die from cancer every single year ?
You can help prevent this statistic from growing by limiting the amount of high-fructose corn syrup or other sweeteners in your diet, especially your children's diets. OTHER THINGS TO DO ARE:
Limit processed foods.
Avoid foods that contain added sugar.
Choose fresh fruit rather than fruit juice or fruit-flavored drinks. Even 100 percent fruit juice has a high concentration of sugar.
Go Raw.
Go Vegan.
Don't get your nourishment out of a box.
Don't get your fix out of a bag.
Don't expect healthy food from a drive-thru window.
Do not drink soda.
Don't allow sweetened beverages to replace healthy milk, especially for children.
Prevent don`t repent!

Death!

Why do we not make things like wills and plan our funeral services while we are hale and hearty ?
When I was 24 and had my first bout of cancer I did a plan for my service as too often I go to services that have no bearing to the person in the casket or the urn...I didn`t want that to happen to me....I keep it in my Bible and it has remained basically the same, everybody I want to take part is still alive 30 years later.....some to sing have migrated but ASHE is always filled with new and exciting talent.
I finally realized that death due to illness is about choices.
Choice of treatment, choice of succumbing or fighting to survive, choice of going with dignity or going in misery.....lots of choices!
I feel death by illness gives you a chance to make things right ...why don`t we use that time ?
If you leave home today and have an accident or a heart attack you don`t have a chance but when you hear you have 6 mths to live you can achieve so much .... I have always wondered why Bob Marley put his family through the struggle they've had since his death when he could have left a will........
Why do we not make our peace with people we have up in our hearts ? We have to forgive them anyway in our struggle to survive so why fight just forgive them......why would you have anyone up in your heart anyway ? While you are stewing yourself they are off to the beach having a wonderful time, maybe they don`t even know you have them up and if they know maybe they don`t even care.
I met a lady a few years ago that told me she had me up from our high school days. Not only didn`t I know about it, I had no idea who she was nor did I care who she was and this woman had me up for something done in HIGH SCHOOL...Here we are in our fifties and she was upset with me, how totally absurd! When we met and she told me her issues we had a good laugh and she got over it........
Suppose that had not happened ? She would have gone to her grave with something troubling her, something that took 3 seconds to resolve and forgive. How many of us are like that ?
WE need to clean up our acts, we don`t know where or when the inevitable will happen .

Are we ever going to learn?

I can`t believe this is 2009 and recently on the early morning show on CBS the anchors in promoting 2 upcoming features said one was "good for you" drinks like noni juice etc. and followed this up with "lets go to the really good things " while showing a table full of cakes done in all kinds of shapes e.g.footballs, helmets etc. then they started to drool about them and how delicious they were going to be.
What message are they sending?
Is this 2009 when we know about what too much sugar does for us ?
Move over to my workplace and the sports club at the hotel is having a 'nyammin' fundraiser and what's on the menu? Huge white flour dumplings big like mi head, ackee and saltfish swimming in oil(remember it's not the ackee that affects you it's the saltfish - it's cured) and why put ackee in oil when it has enough of its own?
Then mackarel run-down another cured fish and corned pork! (mackarel out of the barrel is not to be confused with tin mackarel done in brine that we use at home and coconut milk done from scratch at home is not to be confused with the powdered coconut milk that comes in the packet).
They made tons of money. I bet you if that had been a healthy 'nyammin' no one would have come much less buy anything yet everybody complains of suffering from one thing or another, all who don`t have 'pressure' have diabetes !!
I GIVE UP, I REALLY DO!
But NO, I have to soldier on as if one person gets the lesson I would have achieved something......
On a more pleasant note did you see the hug between Michelle Obama and the Queen? Could anything be cuter?
There is a video of the Queen and Barbara Bush in Washington years ago greeting some poor people in their homes and one lady (black) held the Queen and hugged her...she didn`t die then and she loved it now! MUST BE A BLACK PEOPLE THING!
Well I have already told you that this man , Barack Obama, is a spiritual implant. His wife made the Queen not only touch but hug, the same Queen whose son said he had major problems growing up because hugging his mother was a no no... well if this transformation doesn`t make you feel good, nothing else will.
