ACKEE's BAD RAP

There is a huge debate going on about the poor ackee and how much it is poisoning people in Jamaica. Ackee always gets a bad rap - the other day it was giving Jamaican men prostate cancer, until they found out by research that the fat they said was causing it did no such thing, now all these silly people who are eating the ackee before it is ripe are saying we mustn't eat ackee...ackee has the toxin hypoglycin in it and if you eat it before it's ripe the amount in it is too much so you will get sick.......because I eat my ackees raw, I always get my ackees myself to make sure they are fully opened.
