Colorectal cancer increasing in the young

Colorectal Cancer Increasing in Young screamed the headline.......how can that be when overall incidence rates for colorectal cancer have declined over the past 2 decades.........especially recently as we have become more aware, not to mention Katie Couric's campaign on the importance of having a colonoscopy.
According to a study published in this month’s issue of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, colorectal cancer rates are dropping 2.8% per year in men and 2.2% per year in women, BUT DUE TO YOUNG PEOPLE'S LIFESTYLE THE INCREASE IN THE AGE GROUP 20-29 years ROSE BY 5.2% IN MEN AND 5.6% IN WOMEN.
That's frightening! But I could have told them that.....young people think they are indestructible so they eat like there is no tomorrow. My eldest son never met a piece of jerk pork he didn`t eat, along with jerk sausage and a couple festivals MADE WITH WHITE FLOUR wash it down with some Magnum and there is his fabulous meal.....Vegetables......what's that?
His mother is a multiple cancer survivor so he should take a little more care than that.......Red meat and processed meats are the loves of young people these days, they prefer to go to a steak house or eat pepperoni pizza than say a vegetable pizza.....Hamburgers, french fries, you name it - bad for them - they love it more!
Then there is the smoking of cigarettes and weed. THIS is the next thing that young people do without any regard to the fact that unfiltered smoke is the worse for you so there is nothing healthy about weed.....they smoke as if someone legalized it.
I have two words for them..... LUNG CANCER!
The sodas and energy drinks which you can`t pronounce what's in them,is young people`s drink of choice,so it makes it less likely they will be around for long, and that's a shame as science is showing us that living right and tuning up our body means we can live to 150.
Look on some of them ,they look like old, old people.......
Talking about our age group is it that we ate so badly that we poisoned these children's minds ? Or are our our own minds poisoned why we are addicted to snicker bars etc.? Well this NY times article How the Food Makers Captured Our Brains has an interesting take on the matter.

Continue your work my dear, some will listen and apply. Sometimes when you have been down a particular road and you are wiser for it, you wish to spare everyone , but alas some will say live and let live. One thing for sure, some will listen so keep telling my sister.
