'Ageless Living'

Oprah`s show on 'Ageless Living' was all about 'blue zones' where people live to 105 easily and behave as if they are in their forties. The people in these zones exercise steadily no big jumping up and down, they tend their animals, tend to their farms, practice tai chi, lift light weights and their fruit and vegetables come from their yard and not 3000 miles away. In the blue zone in Sardinia , Italy the people didn`t drink cows milk they drank goats milk, high in calcium therefore good for your heart plus Dr.Oz says researchers believe it could help protect against Alzheimer`s and heart disease.
So it's not the food, it's the the process, but you knew that right?
Dr Oz says "You don't have to travel to the Mediterranean to incorporate these age-defying delicacies into your diet. Planning a Sardinian menu? Start with eating a lean, plant-based diet and only have meat as a side dish."
One major staple in the Sardiniain diet is dairy. The pecorino cheese in Sardinia is known for its rich omega-3 fatty acids. Dr.Oz further advises "Pecorino cheese is available in grocery stores, and if it's made from grass-fed cow's milk, you'll get an extra dose of omega-3." So it's not all cheese that is bad for us.....Sardinia here I come!
Pair a hunk of cheese with a slice of whole grain bread, and you've got a Sardinian snack with some longevity. Another snack option? Sardines. "They've got omega-3s in them, key minerals and iron," Dr. Oz says.
Well I`ve always heard that sardines are a superfood if we can get them out of the tin, so makes sense to me.
One thing all these places have in common is a sense of community....Friends and family work everytime. It's the thing I miss more than anything else living here in Ocho Rios.......No one to play kalooki with!
There is a blue zone in AMERICA shock of shocks !! They found an 103 year old lady lifting her weights and volunteering as happy as a lark - you want to see her work out on her stationary bike !! She lives in an area called Loma Linda, California and many other fabulously healthy old people live there and when they showed us their market it was plain to see why they are so fit and healthy.
There we met heart surgeon Ellsworth Wareham a 94-year-old Adventist who can still be found in the operating room and this is what he had to say "I think it's important for an individual to have some security and peace in his life. And I get that from believing in a loving, caring God, you see. And so if he's in charge of my life, why sit around and worry ? I mean, he takes care of the universe, he can certainly take care of me, so I don't worry ".
A message for all of us.
If you can change it you don`t need to worry and if you can`t change it - you worse don`t need to worry!
As Dr. Wareham says GIVE IT TO GOD!
