THE FOOD YOU ARE EATING CAN KILL YOU

Think the Food You Eat Can't Kill You? Think Again . .
Sadly, American kids today are likely to have shorter life spans than their parents
With modern medicine, life expectancy is going up, right?
WRONG!
For the first time in 200 years, American children can now expect to live shorter lives than their parents. But why?
And it's now not only America...the American way of eating is here in Jamaica and other developing countries ......We have given up our calaloo and yam for burgers and fried chicken, especially our kids. Did you hear the news recently that they want to tax soda to help obesity ?
And what about the host of chronic illnesses now attacking all of us young and old at astronomical rates ?
The US figures look like this:
Childhood asthma has increased over 200%.
Childhood obesity is up an astounding 400%.
Disorders such as ADHD and autism have gone through the roof.
30% of children have two or more cardiac risk factors.
What's worse, children with chronic illnesses are three times more likely to require hospitalization, and many die as a result. Are you believing these stats?
Google them if you believe I`m lying.
And the young are not the only ones at risk....
What are we doing to ourselves ?
Adults and those of advanced age have also fallen prey to the onslaught of deadly disorders.
Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers have reached frightening proportions. Autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and certain forms of cancer have exploded in recent years. BIG WORDS...Is that why we don`t pay attention to whats happening ?
A comedian on 'The View' said "I was going to the supermarket to get cancer, tuberculosis"......everyone did a little nervous laugh. Why ? They all knew just how true that joke was.....
Your entire family’s safety is at risk every time you shop for food. From salmonella in chickens, to deadly contaminants in food grown in China, to pesticides and other chemicals used on fruits and vegetables grown south of the border, foods sold in grocery stores across America are harboring dangerous chemicals and bacteria.
However, few people are aware of the dangers and expect government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration to protect them.
Fortunately, you can take steps to reduce your risk of food poisoning:
- Consider growing your own vegetables and fruits. They can be grown in your yard, Jamaicans we are blessed.....our townhouses all have a little plot of land back or front some have back and front, and our apartments have balconies where fabulous tomatoes and peppers can be grown. Likewise, natural insect control is vital, using insects such as ladybugs. You also can use other biological control systems. At my plot of land we use herbs to surround the broccoli and peppers etc. Insects stay away.

- Buy locally grown foods. Talk to farmers and ask about pesticide and herbicide use. Today I spoke to some guys from St.Elizabeth the main farming region of Jamaica who told me they sacrifice size for us being healthy. Organic farms are popping up all over the place, and have been growing at a rate of 15% a year abroad with no end in sight. We are not far behind.

- Wash all vegetables and fruits. To wash your vegetables properly, fill a 2-gallon pot with purified water (filtered) and add two caps of vegetable wash, or like me , you can use hydrogen peroxide.

- When buying organic produce, make sure that they look healthy. Plants with spots and bruises are not safe to eat. Sick plants infected with molds, viruses, and bacteria secrete powerful toxic substances to protect themselves, and they are very toxic to people. Bet you didn`t know that? That's why peanuts are not good for cancer patients as it has mold.....

- Avoid injected meats and poultry. You may have noticed that most whole birds and many hams have a carefully worded label that says they were injected with either gluten, natural flavors, or hydrolyzed protein extracts. In essence, this is a glutamate mixture much like MSG. And like MSG, it is toxic to your body, especially the brain.

- Wash your poultry well. It also is important to wash whole birds before you cook them. Many are covered in chemicals and bacteria contamination. Just hold the bird under the water and scrub the skin with a vegetable brush. All foods should be washed thoroughly before cooking.

- Cook all meats completely, even steaks. Most animals, especially cattle and chickens, are infected with carcinogenic viruses and there is compelling evidence that humans can develop cancer from these viruses. Several studies have shown that slaughterhouse workers and those who butcher meat have significantly higher rates of lymphomas and leukemias than the general population. These are the same cancers found in cattle and chickens. I am a good example of that, see where eating steak got me? I only ate rare steaks...and there was no moderation, most nights it was steak with onions and maybe a baked potato.

Many of the items you buy in grocery stores have additives that can trigger some of the most serious health problems known, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and Parkinson’s disease
HAVE I SCARED YOU ENOUGH?

I an going to read this again with Gordon. He is not too young to know. Problem is, we buy organic as much as possible. How do we really know about the fruits and vegetables. I am planting this summer and hopefully, in the winter too.
