GIFTS

Have u ever wondered what Christmas is all about....? Read Ben Stein's Christmas Confessions. We are taught that Christmas is for giving but we get caught up with giving to people who already have.......... giving our children more toys more clothes, just generally giving them too much...
This year how about one gift each family member telling them thanks for a great year, and showing how u appreciate them and then give really give........
Long ago when i realized that giving meant more than giving to friends and family who i thought already had enough i decided to pull five thousand dollars change it into 100`s and 500`s and give who i felt needed some Christmas cheer, that was a lot of money in the 1990`s ......well i found it brought ME such joy giving to ittle old ladies in the plaza who would just bubble over at the sight of a 100 dollars to the check out guys at the supermarkets who in those days got $20, getting $100 was just heaven ,it also made sure all groceries were packed properly next year .......It was great fun then and still brings great happiness to me and has grown over the years until now altough the needy is staff whose needs stretch from money to help after gunmen have shot and killed or burned down or maimed to children needing money to pay to get exam results......The reasons have certainly changed, the amounts have certainly changed but the need is still there....
Instead of the bounceabouts and the unlimited toys please think of all those children who have lost their fathers and mothers this year.......instead of another huge party make it real and ask that instead of gifts donations will be taken for a childrens home..remember all those children in there have birthdays too.
Think of all those women who have been abused who a tube of lipstick or a pair of earrings might make them feel pretty again........all those sick people that need proper nutrition instead of expensive medication( that they can`t afford anyway) give them some good food.... this year i asked for my pixie present to be food and at the party i just loved my basket of pineapples and peppers, grapes, cauliflower etc. it was just fabulous, and something that i can use immediately and the basket can go to the market......wonderful......so think your gifts through this year, a school book might be of greater help than another t-shirt.Proper track shoes might make that potential track star go a few seconds faster.....your old glasses frames will be fabulously new to someone who can`t afford one and the difference between getting their priscription filled or not,do not throw out those things.......... soda, cake and cheetos are not treats, they r gifts that come back to haunt u later in life, and another toy made in china will be in the bottom of the toy box come January, while they play with wooden spoons and plastic containers,TRUST ME!

Thanks! Pat, I will share this with my children. The Westhaven Children's Home is a Home for the physically challenged child. Children who are too often forgotten but through love and attention can live a better and more productive life. Those who used to bit now kiss and hug. They're people too.

Pat, sorry type-o. Last sentence word bit I meant bite.

My children and I will be visiting Westhaven Children's Home this holiday and give some love and much need items such as pampers.
